About Project

  • The Launcher is a self-contained portal and entry point into the Minecraft universe. Share and connect with a global community of players through chat, groups, match making, and forums​. Extend the Minecraft universe beyond game experiences with online Live Events, Media, and more​.

Role

  • Lead UX & UI Designer
  • Participate UI planning meeting, and create wireframe, flow, Prototype, style guide, final assets and Deliver Specs.

Challenge and Discovery

  • Unify : Unify the player experience on the PC platform
  • Expand : Expand player awareness of the Minecraft universe
  • Engage : enable player engagement with rich content from the Minecraft Universe​
  • Launch : Launch the Minecraft Franchise into PC Game Pass
  • One Desktop : a unified desktop experience for the minecraft franchise
  • One launcher : one desitination for desktop users to acces the Minecraft uninverse
  • One account : One Minecraft account to access all Minecraft products and services
  • One Vanilla : One Minecraft product containing Java and Bedrock edition. The beginning of an evolution of our offer model across desktop


Researchs

  • Before deep dive, I decided to have early survey that make sure to what player wants and desire. I create questions with team and work with User researchers and with this data. We found people are generally interested in character customization, modification, and social feature like friend’s activity and chat.






Persona and user journey

  • Persona : Minecraft is suitable for users aged 10+, but we discovered that the age range start as young as 6 years to up to over 60 I made two personas groups for minecraft launcher.
  • we created how the launcher with a specific, not generic, user in mind. It was created based upon the research (data and facts obtained through real-life interviews, surveys etc.).Also we focused to make it very extreme or rather average profile. It helped me design to figure out how people behave, what are their frustrations, and goals, and how they use the product. I gathered the findings and use them to define a realistic character that is likely to use our product.
  • User journey : Use the persona to create the user journey.
  • It is a visual representation of how user moves through and takes the steps to complete a specific action. All steps and actions of the user are captured, from starting a task to reaching the desired goal – including all relevant difficulties and needs. I made it tracked a user’s progress through time. User takes trip from something unclear to the existence of the product to being fully engaged with it. It is a holistic approach to examining users’ interactions with our product. It creates a consistent understanding of your users’ goals in every step of their journey and helps to define requirements






Ideation

  • I worked with the whole team and created a toms of ideas in paralles
  • Generating a wide variety of technical solutions that we then stacked using our Filter Criteria.
  • Starting with the sketches with possible solutions then layout with graybox to breakdown with color block with key elements
